Collection: Hyundai Genesis Coupe Turbo Kit

The quest for road dominance starts with revving up the engine, and a turbocharger provides the best return on investment. You can add the extra oomph without increasing the capacity of the engine. This will result in lesser emission and better fuel efficiency. But there are compromises, as with any upgrade.

Until the boost gets to the threshold, the engine remains uninspiring. Moreover, there is a lag issue to deal with once the engine reaches the threshold. Manufacturers have come up with different solutions to the lag problem. But a question remains, what type of Hyundai Genesis Coupe turbo kit should you go with. While there are several types of aftermarket turbo kits, we will focus on the four major types.

Four Major Types of Turbo Kits

Single Turbo

The most common and simplest type is the single turbo set-up. Single turbo kits are popular for a few good reasons. The first is cost since turbo upgrades are usually expensive. But you can still enjoy a power boost of your engine without spending too much by using a single turbo kit.

The second is space. Car enthusiasts are often having difficulty adding a second turbo with limited real estate in the engine bay. But with a single turbo, the installation is easier and quicker, and space is not much of a problem.

Single turbos are already enough for making bigger horsepower. Although the kit takes time to build a boost, drag cars will find it easier to hook up from a dig. But once it achieves traction with enough boost power, you can quickly rocket down the quarter-mile with a single push on the turbo button.

Twin Turbo

Twin-turbo kits are great for all-around use, whether you are blasting down the drag strip or making some rounds at car shows. They have impressive looks, aside from giving your car massive power. In a 4-cylinder engine, one turbo gets its power from the first and fourth cylinder, while the other turbo from the second and third. Thus, resulting in lesser lag and lesser pulse overlap.

While the twin kits are expensive, you will get your money’s worth from the aesthetic benefits and the extra power for your car. Twin turbos are great for the daily-driven Genesis Coupe that frequents the interstate. You can spool your way quickly to your destination in less time.

Sequential Turbos

The sequential turbo setup uses one turbo for higher engine speeds, while the other one for the lower speed. Thus, creating a solution for lowering the drag that a single turbo typically encounters, but without compromising the performance at higher RPM. On the downside, the cost is more expensive, and you also have a complex and heavy setup.

Electric Turbo

A turbo with an electric compressor is a recent entry in the market. The electric compressor provides the engine’s initial boost until the turbo can spool enough power to blast you away from the scene. In this setup, lag becomes a thing of the past. However, the setup is complex and heavier since it requires another motor for the compressor.
